Technology and Digital Solutions Internships Join us at the forefront of technology and medicine

At Stanford Health Care, we're driven each day by our mission to heal humanity through science and compassion, one patient at a time.  Our Technology and Digital Solutions (TDS) group has pioneered innovations in research, education, and healthcare delivery consistent with our Silicon Valley roots.  We’ve also undertaken ambitious initiatives involving AI, machine learning, and data management.  When you join us as an intern, you'll become a part of this legacy of leading-edge, coordinated, and compassionate care.  You’ll gain valuable experience in the IT field and gain exposure to an invigorating business environment that includes interacting with IT senior executives.

Timeline
Summer 2024 internships will follow this timeline:
  • Applications open:  February 6, 2024 
  • Applications due:  March 8, 2024
  • Interviews with Preceptors: March 15-30, 2024
  • Selections communicated: April 1, 2024 
  • Internship begins: late May 2024 - early June 2024
  • Internship concludes: August 2024

Application Process
Application 
A completed application and resume are required to apply. Cover letters and letters of recommendation are not required. 

Interviews
Department leaders conduct interviews virtually with the top 2-3 candidates recommended for their position based on the application and phone screen.  We use behavioral interview questions.  Following the interviews, final selections are made.

What We Look For: Technical Skills
Each of our opportunities requires specific skills, which we'll include in the job posting when it is live.  In general, we look for:
  • Experience with windows, mac os, and active director
  • Knowledge of REST APIs and web service development frameworks
  • Basic database design skills (SQL Server), SQL development, webform or report development (Crystal Reports, SAP BusinessObjects, Qlik, etc.)
  • Knowledge of technolgy product management

We believe that technical skils are important, but behavioral skills are differentiators.  This includes our interns.  When we read your resume, we look for evidence of:
  • Professional written and oral communication
  • Adaptability to quickly changing priorities
  • Strong problem-solving skills using qualitative and quantitative data
  • Detail orientation and organized work approach
  • Confidence in raising thoughtful ideas
