Administrative Fellowship

Stanford Health Care invites you to develop your leadership abilities in this rewarding, project-based program.  Administrative Fellows enjoy projects in areas such as strategic planning, clinical operations, ambulatory care, digital solutions, network development, facilities planning, performance improvement, and patient experience.  They also receive extensive mentoring from senior leaders, opportunities for continued learning within the academic medicine model, and ongoing support as to build expertise and experience working in a health system.


The Administrative Fellows program is designed for recent Public Health, Health Administrative, or related Master’s degree program students.  The Fellowship is a 12-month program that starts in June of each year.  The Fellowship starts with formal goal setting, where mentors and the program sponsors set expectations for your year and tailor experience to your interests.  Throughout the year, Fellows receive ample informal feedback and coaching to support your leadership development.

It has been a pleasure to be a mentor for Administrative Fellows since the inception of the program at Stanford Health Care.  I have seen talented individuals with immense potential use their skills and experience to grow into leaders within the organization and beyond. As a former fellow myself, I enjoy providing guidance to the fellows to equip them with the knowledge and resources they need to take full advantage of their administrative fellowship experience.

In the early days of the Fellowship, Administrative Fellows are exposed to projects within my department of Patient Experience, giving them both a system-wide and a patient-centric perspective when contributing to projects in various other areas of the organization.  Our Stanford Health Care Administrative Fellows have the unique experience of contributing to high-priority projects within the organization, gaining thorough exposure to the academic medical center model, and learning the breadth and depth of a health system.

This is truly a great program for young health care leaders who aspire to learn and grow.

Location Palo Alto, CA.  Your desk is in our new inpatient hospital located on the Stanford University main campus.

Cohort Size One to two fellows are selected each year.

Executive Exposure Fellows interface with our leaders daily and attend weekly executive team meetings and events.

Rewards Administrative Fellows are salaried, full-time employees.  Fellows are eligible for benefits including medical, dental, life insurance, retirement plan, tuition 
reimbursement(after six months), and paid time off.
