Pediatric Emergency Department Bridge Training Program
About our Pediatric Emergency DepartmentThe Stanford Pediatric Emergency Department is a Level 1 Trauma Center, a designated Comprehensive Stroke Center, STEMI receiving facility, and a CA EMS C designated Comprehensive Receiving Center. This brand new state of the art department is designed to enhance every aspect of a patient centered care experience.
As a three time Lantern Award winning department, the latest medical technologies have been implemented to support our care teams’ collaborative provisioning of excellent care to 100 pediatric patients a day. Our emergency department prides itself on compassionate and excellent care working with a diverse population. Additionally, Stanford Health Care successfully received its 4thconsecutive Magnet Designation, a prestigious award developed by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), recognizing health care organizations that provide nursing excellence. We are the only Level 1 Trauma Center between San Francisco and San Jose.
Program DescriptionThis 400 hour program consists of 80 hours didactic and 320 hours of clinical rotation in all major areas of the emergency department including the clinical decision unit. Each week will include (2 3) clinical 8 12 hour shifts with preceptor assigned to specific area of the department.
Didactic portion of the program consists of preassigned learning activities [i.e., podcast, emergency nursing orientation modules, policies, and procedures], lectures, and skills laboratory. This will be (2) 4 hour shifts per week. Lectures include guest speakers from nursing management, peers, pharmacist, and physicians who are experts in their field of practice. There is an initial, midterm and final clinical rotation evaluation based on mastery of the Emergency Departments core competencies.
Application Requirements
Must be a graduate from a BSN or MSN program
Previous Work: Experience 1 year of experience working as a RN with pediatric patients
Valid BLS, ACLS PALS certification from the American Heart Association
SHC LPCH employees: Must be in good standing without any disciplinary action within the past twelve months
prior to the program start date
California Registered Nurse (RN) license preferred
TNCC must be completed within 6 months of hire
Training Program DatesOur bridge program application open twice a year in the Summer and Winter. While we typically have multiple positions, we have one central application. We will list the specific department opportunities in the job posting. We'll provide more details here when positions are posted.

About our Adult Emergency DepartmentThe Stanford Adult Emergency Department is a Level 1 Trauma Center, a designated Comprehensive Stroke Center, Stemi receiving facility, and is Level II Geriatric Accredited. This brand new state of the art department is designed to enhance every aspect of a patient centered care experience.
As a three time Lantern Award winning department, the latest medical technologies have been implemented. The treatment spaces consisting of 66 beds and an 11 bed Clinical Decision unit with over 250 patients seen daily. Our emergency department prides itself on compassionate and excellent care working with a diverse population.
